Honoring the Courage, Wisdom, and Leadership of Eritrean Women
On this International Women’s Day, ANFET extends its deepest respect to Eritrean women everywhere-in the homeland, in refugee camps, and across the global diaspora. Our history is impossible to tell without the strength of women who carried families, defended communities, and held the nation together through war, displacement, and hardship.
Today, we honor:
The women who fought for Eritrea’s independence and paid the highest price.
The mothers and daughters who continue to resist repression with dignity and quiet courage.
The activists, journalists, and community leaders who speak truth, build unity, and keep hope alive.
The young women shaping the future, refusing to accept limits placed on their dreams.
Eritrean women have always been more than participants in our national story-they are its backbone, its conscience, and its moral compass.
As the region faces new uncertainties, their resilience reminds us that liberation is not only a political project but a human one. A society that uplifts its women uplifts itself. A movement that listens to its women strengthens its legitimacy. And a nation that protects the rights and dignity of its women protects its own future.
Today, ANFET celebrates Eritrean women not only for what they have endured, but for what they continue to inspire: courage, clarity, and the unbreakable belief that a better Eritrea is possible.
